IS IT CORRECT TO SAY THAT COMPOUND WALL SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUCTED PRIOR TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOUSE?
It is a wrong notion. The compound wall shall be constructed before hand, and then only the construction of the house shall be taken up. By doing so, the bad influence of environment will not fall on the house construction, as per standard works on vastu.
WHAT TYPE OF ENVIRONS WILL BADLY INFLUENCE?
Water tanks, wells and pits on southern, south-western, and western sides, elevated area, hillocks or mounds on eastern, north-eastern, and northern sides shall not be there. No burial ground, temple, slaughter house, pollution shall be in the close proximity of the proposed house. These types of environs will have bad influence on the proposed construction.
WHICH SHOULD BE THE DIRECTION FOR ENTERING INTO THE HOUSE?
From the compound wall gate as you enter shall go straight to the main entrance or you can enter into the main entrance located on the right side of the house. This is known as Savyagamanam (clock-wise direction). It is not correct to enter in Apasavya gamanam (anti-clock- wise direction) or from the back side of the house. If on the back side of the house also a road runs, and an entrance is provided then you can enter from the back side of the house also.
CAN SIMHADWARA-MAIN ENTRANCE BE FIXED EXACT OPPOSITE TO THE COMPOUND WALL GATE?
Yes. It shall be like that only. However the center point of compound wall gate and center point of simhadwara shall not be on a perpendicular line. The center point of simhadwara shall be slightly towards the right side of the house.
BASING ON THE ROAD DIRECTION, IN WHICH DIRECTION SIMHADWARA OR MAIN ENTRANCE SHALL BE FIXED?
1. If road is on eastern side, simhadwara or main entrance shall be to the east or south but should not be to the north. 2. If road is on southern side, simhadwara shall be fixed to the south or west but not to the east. 3. If road is on western side the simhadwara shall be to the west or north but not to the south. 4. If road is on northern side the simhadwara shall be to the north or east, but not to the west. If Simhadwara are located as above the entry will be savyagamanam (clock-wise).
IS IT CORRECT TO SAY THAT THE THICKNESS AND THE HEIGHT OF THE WALLS ON NORTHERN, NORTH-EASTERN AND EASTERN SIDE SHALL BE LESS THAN THE OTHER SIDES?
If house is constructed as above it is against the rules of vastu sastra. In all directions the height and thickness of the walls shall be uniform. The present day pseudo vastu pundits are advising that north-east shall be lighter and south-west shall be heavier, which is against the basic principles of vastu. Such pundits are wrongly advising to construct the walls thicker and higher on the south western side. By doing so the strength of the house gets reduced and the defect will cause suffering to the owner.
SHOULD THE STAIR CASE NOT BE ON THE NORTH-EASTERN DIRECTION?
If anybody advises that the steps and stair case should not be on the north-eastern side, it is their own opinion but not the vastu rule. This is also a wrong advise of pseudo pundits. Vastu rules does not restrict the location of stair case.
SHOULD THE STAIR CASE BE LOCATED SO AS TO CLIMBUP ON SOUTH AND WEST DIRECTIONS AND CLIMB DOWN TOWARDS NORTH AND EAST?
This advise is also of modern pseudo pundits and hence need not be followed. Which ever direction is convenient that can be chosen for stair case. However such construction shall not be odd in the appearance and inconvenient to the people living there.
IS IT CORRECT TO CONSTRUCT A HOUSE ON TO THE SOUTHERN COMPOUND WALL WITHOUT LEAVING ANY OPEN SPACE ON SOUTHERN SIDE?
It is a major defect. If the house constructed without leaving open space on southern side or on south-west or on western side, as being advised by modern pundits, it becomes a major defect (dosha) as per vastu rules.
